ASLA School library awards




We encourage principals, professional colleagues, and members of the school community to support outstanding school library staff to nominate for these awards. 

NB: Each category has specific requirements, so please ensure all prerequisites are met before submitting a nomination. Information on each award is available on the respective pages. 

These awards are proudly presented to recipients during the ASLA Annual General Meeting. 

ASLA EARLY CAREER TEACHER LIBRARIAN AWARD

This national award recognises and celebrates an Australian Teacher Librarian who has made exceptional contributions to their school community and potentially beyond, within their first five years in the role.

The award highlights an early career Teacher Librarian’s impressive achievement in professional knowledge, practice, and engagement, showcasing their positive influence on teaching and learning within their school.

ASLA SCHOOL LIBRARY ADVOCATE AWARD

This national award is open to any school staff member, including library staff, teachers and principals, to recognise a dedicated individual who advocates for their school library and has made a positive contribution to their school community and beyond.

ASLA SCHOOL LIBRARY PROFESSIONAL OF THE YEAR AWARD

This national award recognises and honours a School Library Professional who has made an outstanding contribution to the profession of school librarianship.

Through their high level of achievement in professional knowledge, practice, and engagement nominees for this award have made a positive impact on teaching and learning in their school, and contributed to the school library profession at a state, national and/or international level.
