ASLA School Library Professional of the Year Award 2025

Through their high level of achievement in professional knowledge, professional practice, and professional engagement they have made a positive impact on teaching and learning in their school, and contributed to the school library profession at a state, national and/or international level.

This national award recognises and honours a School Library Professional who has made an outstanding contribution to the profession of school librarianship.

An individual may nominate themselves; OR principals, professional colleagues and members of the school community are also encouraged to nominate their library staff members. 

PRIZES

The recipient of this award will receive:

  • complimentary 12 month ASLA Personal Professional Membership
  • complimentary ASLA Biennial Conference Registration 2025*
  • a $1,000 professional learning grant
  • a trophy and certificate

NOMINEE REQUIREMENTS

  • ASLA Membership is not required
  • Must be a resident in Australia
  • Must have a recognised tertiary degree in library studies, TAFE or university

    In addition to the other requirements, nominees for this award must also:

    • Address the following criteria (including school, state, national and/or international achievements where applicable): Professional Knowledge; Professional Practice; Professional Engagement – with a max. 500 word count for each section.
    • Include a Personal Statement (of up to 500 words).

    Nominees will also be required to provide the following:

    • Scanned copies of qualifications, degrees, certificates, and awards
    • Other additional supporting evidence
    • Contact details for two referees are to be supplied (one being the school principal*), who will be contacted if the nominee advances to the final stages of the selection process

    The Awardee will be required to submit an article for ACCESS and be willing to enter into an agreement to professionally contribute to ASLA.

    The Awardee will provide certain consents to ASLA, as outlined in the Terms of Entry document
