This national award recognises and celebrates an Australian Teacher Librarian who has made exceptional contributions to their school community and potentially beyond, within their first five years in the role.
The award highlights an early career Teacher Librarian’s impressive achievement in professional knowledge, practice, and engagement, showcasing their positive influence on teaching and learning within their school.

ASLA Early Career Teacher Librarian Award 2026 Terms and Conditions of Entry:
- ASLA Membership is not required.
- All nominees must be a resident in Australia.
- Contact details for two referees must be supplied (one must be the school principal).
- Nominee must hold a recognised Teacher Librarian qualification. (Graduation date and Scanned copies of qualification(s) must be provided)
- Be within the first five years of working as a qualified Teacher Librarian. (Employment start date must be provided)
Additional Requirements
Individuals must provide statements addressing the following criteria (max. 500 words each):
- Achievement
- Professional Knowledge
- Professional Practice
- Professional Engagement (School, state, national and/or international achievements may be included.)
Additional supporting evidence is accepted with all nominations.
Awardee obligation
The award recipient will be required to submit a report to the ASLA Board outlining the professional learning experiences facilitated by the award.
Consent
Award recipients grant ASLA permission to publish their details (including name, image, and award details) through ASLA’s website, social media, and publications, including future communications related to the award.
Prize
- Complimentary 12-month Personal Professional Membership to ASLA.
This cannot be exchanged or used in any other way or by any other person.
- A $1,000 professional learning grant.
To be paid by electronic funds transfer to an Australian bank account, as nominated by the winner.
- A trophy and certificate.
Presented at the ASLA AGM or by alternate arrangement.
