Abstract:

For school libraries to thrive they need to be re-imaged often and well. Without vision we walk in darkness and eventually our libraries will become irrelevant and die. With a strong vision, careful planning, hard work, passion, perseverance and determination we can all transform our libraries into exciting learning places now and for the future … and we can do it on a shoestring! This presentation follows the transformational journey of one school library, outlines the steps taken and shares the impact this has had on the positive, engaging learning culture of the school.

Participants will;

-Understand the importance of reimaging their school libraries 

- Learn practical steps to use as a guide in transforming their libraries 

- Understand the impact a transformed library can have on the learning culture of a school

Completing ‘ Transforming A School Library – an exciting journey!’ will contribute 1 hour of NESA registered PD addressing Standards 3.6.2, 6.2.2 and 6.3.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.
