We started preparing early in our library. In our fortnight library classes from Year 3 to Year 9, we introduced or revisited  all our online services and how to access them from home or school. Very early on with teachers, we quietly sent out a reminder to ask them to check they could log in to the library portal, which is where all our digital resources are accessed from. We worked closely with our IT team and eLearning Training Officer to add resources to the school’s learning management system on teaching remotely, and instigated staff training sessions in Microsoft Teams for several weeks, supporting teachers who had never worked in that sort of environment to upskill swiftly. We have also been instrumental in delivering two information packets (one for families and one for teachers) to support the learn from home model in Term 2.

In terms of resourcing, we have added significant content to our ebook & audiobook system, and worked with teachers to digitise (within copyright) materials relevant to forthcoming units of work. The library team has consistently sought out and taken up opportunities with trusted suppliers for free access to digital resources, and worked with teachers from Prep to Year 12 to ensure resources are accessible wherever possible. My fabulous TL has also been recording story readings to share in the weeks ahead with younger students, and maintains a presence with all Junior School classes through collaboration with class teachers. We have a list a mile long of ideas to continue to support our staff and students through this extraordinary time, and aim to ensure all our contributions are positive, accommodating and purposeful.
