The outbreak of the coronavirus COVID-19 has impacted us all. It is understandable, that each one of us may be feeling worried, anxious and overwhelmed by the constantly changing situation. We need to take special care of ourselves, our families and each other. We should never underestimate the power we have to offer hope to our students, staff, parents and school leaders.
The staff in our schools have been working hard to set up quality online learning for our students. It's been a monumental effort right across Australia and throughout the world.
As Teachers Librarians and School Library Staff, we are in a key position to support them. We need to focus on doing the best job we can with the time, energy and resources available. We need to be selective and use our professional knowledge and skills as Teacher Librarians and Library Staff, just like we always do, to decide what online resources are best for our library collections and school communities. Over the coming weeks, we can certainly highlight these excellent resources, to ensure our libraries remain front and centre of teaching and learning in our schools.
We want to assure you that ASLA is here to support you. Our website, webinars, resources and services will continue to be available, as usual and updated regularly. We have a Board Director in every state and territory in Australia who are working with your best interest in mind. You can certainly contact us via email with any questions, suggestions or concerns. It is important we all feel connected.
Take care, stay well and stay safe. You are doing an amazing job!
